Frequently asked questions
How our prices work, where the data comes from, and how the site stays free.
- Why is your price different from the lowest one I see on TCGplayer?
- The price we show is the market price— roughly the going rate a card actually sells for — not the single cheapest listing. The lowest listing is often a damaged copy, a far-away seller, or a low-feedback account, so it can be misleading. Market price is a more honest "what should this cost?" number. When you click through to buy, you'll see the retailer's full range of live listings, including cheaper ones, and can pick whatever suits you.
- How often are prices updated?
- Prices refresh every night. A card's price can move between updates, so treat the number as a recent reference rather than a live quote — the real-time price is always whatever the retailer shows once you click through.
- Why doesn't the price history chart go back further?
- Because we only show prices we've actually recorded— we never invent history. A card's chart begins on the first day we started tracking it, and it grows a little longer every day. We'd rather show a short, honest record than fill it in with made-up numbers.
- Where do the card data and images come from?
- Card details and images come from Scryfall and MTGJSON, two community projects that catalog every Magic printing. We cover roughly 116,000 card printings and 4,000 sealed products.
- Do you sell cards yourself?
- No. TheCardRamp is a catalog, not a store. We don't hold inventory or process payments — we point you to trusted retailers and you buy directly from them.
- How do the buy links work — do you make money?
- Yes, through affiliate links. When you buy via one of our links, the retailer may pay us a small commission at no extra cost to you— you pay the same price you would otherwise. It's what keeps the site free. We only link to established retailers and never let commissions change the price you see or which card we show you.
- Which stores do you link to?
- Major, well-established marketplaces — TCGplayer, eBay, and Amazon — so you can compare and buy from a source you already trust.
- Is this affiliated with Wizards of the Coast?
- No. TheCardRamp is unofficial Fan Content permitted under the Wizards of the Coast Fan Content Policy. It is not approved or endorsed by Wizards. Portions of the materials used are property of Wizards of the Coast. © Wizards of the Coast LLC.
- I found something wrong — how do I let you know?
- We'd genuinely like to hear it. Use the feedback option on any card or product page, or email us at hello@thecardramp.com, and we'll take a look.
